Jennifer Shorto began her career as a collector and connoisseur, buying and selling antique textiles and collaborating with artisans to reproduce her favorite pieces. Studying Art History at the Louvre in Paris ignited her passion for artisanship, and set the foundation for her sourcing exceptional materials and working with the very best. This passion took her around the world, living and working in Brazil, Mexico, Paris, Brussels and eventually London, where her studio is now based. In 2013, Jennifer Shorto founded her fabric and wallpaper company, which has been featured in major publications, including The World of Interiors, Vogue Living, US Vogue, AD and Elle Décor.
Jennifer draws inspiration from an extensive collection of antique textiles, ranging from 17th century French brocades to strip-woven cloths from West Africa. She brings references from handmade textile traditions into contemporary prints and weaves, and her influences are broad. While some designs borrow from the rhysthms and patterns of tribal textiles, they might equally bring to mind the patchwork of color in a Paul Klee painting. The fabrics - silks, cottons and linens - are woven in the UK and printed in France and Italy.
