Seemakrish Textiles was established in 2012. Seema has a modernist’s eye for innovation and technology, and her textiles blend a refined modernity with traditional craftsmanship and extraordinary use of color. Each pattern is hand drawn in her San Francisco studio, and then made in small batches by master craftspeople in Bangalore. Handcrafted one yard at a time, the textiles give new context to India’s heritage of block printing, hand embroidery, and weaving. Coordinating wallcoverings are also offered.
Seemakrish textiles are based on the traditional technique of block printing. When a new collection is designed, master block makers in Bangalore, India hand carve each design into teak wood blocks for printing. Each woodblock can be used to print between 500 to 800 yards of fabric
The beauty of our unique designs are apparent in the layered dimension that is created by the intricate embroidery in combination with hand printing.
